Laser Therapy

General / 8th June 2014

companion_pet_photos (3)We now have a medical laser for treating a wide variety of inflammatory conditions. The laser works by stimulating cell activity and metabolism which improves healing in virtually every situation. Our machine picks a program based on your pet’s condition, coat colour and length etc and then the laser is applied, usually only for a few minutes at a time. We usually do this on a fully conscious pet and the treatment can be repeated as necessary so we can do them during a normal consultation.

Many people will have had laser treatment for arthritis and muscular aches and pains. We can treat these in animals too, but it can also be used to help healing of wounds, abscesses, sore ears, sore paws, anal glands, gingivitis etc. etc. We have already started giving a laser treatment to surgical wounds at the end of an operation whilst pets are still unconscious, (for no extra charge!) and this can be repeated to aid healing or take away soreness as appropriate.

Cats can have gingivitis treated.
